Data entry in RootsMagic Census entry currently, United States only Sections CENSUS SOURCE and CITATION Reference material =========================================================================DIV80== Overview While it is desirable to create a complete census source with a full manual transcription, the large amount of work means that the work needs to be prioritized. Level of interest in the person being documented- LOWEST quality partial entry not all fields completed, but has image and citation URL at minimum. full entry but _PARTIAL in terms of copying over the service's index info full entry use just service's index info full entry include RJO transcription HIGHEST quality Procedures Determine what kind of census you wish to cite and the database it is in- Ancestry, FamilySearch etc. What year, entity (Fed or State) Create source, if necessary. Use the copy source function to create it, then edit it for the needed changes. Each source is for a census year and for a state. Create citation to the correct source. Attach the citation to facts in RM that are supported by the census sheet, including name or alt married name birth date & place marriage occupation for kids and other named relatives - ChildParent Add '_PARTIAL' to source citation CD field if source is not complete. Add '_PARTIAL' to source citation research after Ancestry index info or Family Search index info when only partially done. =========================================================================DIV80== Source Template See: ST_info_US_Fed_Census.md for details about the template and an example of how to use the fields. =========================================================================DIV80== Census Sources NAME CenFedUSdb YYYY state-abbrev state-name CenStUSdb YYYY state-abbrev state-name Example names SourceID Name 6254 CenFedUSdb 1950 NY New York CenStUSdb 1925 NY New York Note the format of the Census source name.
